About Nicky
Nicky updateJan 28
Well its about time to get down to some real action. I leave for the first test of the new season on Sunday to Malaysia.
In the meantime it hasn't been just all beer and BBQ. I have had a few PR events - some fun and some pretty much work, but its all part of it.
The vroom event was very cool. The highlight was the Kart race on ice - that was pretty sick. The skiing was pretty cool too. It was literally snow every morning up to your knees. I kept it all pretty mellow and careful - no black diamonds or anything like that. That said, I didn't spend the week posted up on the bunny slopes either!!!
It was my first time ever at a real ski resort like that and I've got to say that I've got too big a year to be off trying anything too cool, so caution was the name of the day. I did step up to the red slopes and had a bit of fun towards the end of the week. It was the 19th year for the event so it was an honor to be there as there have been a pretty long history of legends to attend. Now, I just need to get ready to do the work so I make sure I'm there for the 20th anniversary - I really don't want to miss that!!

Well I'd better check in with my peeps and give ya an update on my condition. I'm sure by now you know that I have to sit out Brno because of the damage I have done to my heel. But things are feeling better and even though I'm still on crutches, I can't wait to get back on the bike.
The 3 week break was long enough and then to have to add on a few more is not cool. I had permission to do the X games supermotard event from HRC, but it turned out to be a bad call on my part and I'm sorry to my team and sponsors. Sometimes these events can have big pay offs and then other time it leaves you looking bad. On this occasion it's the bad!! So, now I'm doing all the rehab and every thing possible too get back quickly, fit and strong and try to put up a few good results before the end of the season. Indy will be huge for me and I'm hoping to see a few of you out there in the stands.
I hate to just keep piling on the bad news but also during the 3 week break we lost my Grandfather. He was 86 and went peacefully. He had 11 kids, had a good run and got his money's worth. For a guy who farmed his whole life, he can now go rest.
Like I say, I'm hoping to see you all out at Indy. I can't wait!!
Peace, Nicky
Nicky's UpdateMay 1
Well its hasn't been the best of time for me or the Hayden bro's as of late and I have had pretty ruff run. My crash at Portugal was the low point of the last month for me. Roger got taken out at Alabama in a practice pretty hard and in the process jacked up his lil finger and broke his pelvis and some lumbar's in his back. And after surgery on the lil finger the docs decided they were wasting there time and had to take the tip off of his lil pinky.
I was able to get him troy bayliss number and he got to talk to him and a few people who have had to donate that bodily part to the game and they all say riding with it out is not much of a problem so they decided it was best to get rid of it. My brother Tommy, after scoring 4 consecutive podiums, got taken out at calif speedway the first lap of the 600 race. After a guy had some kind of mechanical problem and throttle stuck or lost his brakes cleaned him out in a nasty first lap deal. It got his ankle good and tib good and busied lung, kidney, broke a rib and fractured a lumbar on his lower back. His lower leg took some good work from his doc and put in 2 plates and 16 screws. The good news is the day he went in the hospital roger got out and looks with time they both will be ok. Its not been a easy on my parent this lil run or my sister who said they gonna have to quit answering the phone on racing wke's, but this isn't a easy game and their tuff so I am sure they will come back just as soon as they can.
As for me i on my way to china to do what i do and as crazy as it may sound with what's happen to my bro's the last 2 wk's a can honestly say I can't wait to get the track and on my bike. China right now is a crazy place to go and got a lot of issues with the Olympics coming up and was a bit of a night mare to get visas and things so I plan to lay low. Except on the track i really hope for a good wke we need one!!!
Just in time for a new season we got a new new site. I hope they are both very good!!! The new site is designed to make things easier for you all and to keep everyone better informed as to how things are going.
Hopefully, it also makes it easier for you to get some new and improved gear!! Check out the merchandise link. Don't be scared to let us know what you think because the most important thing is to make sure you guys are happy with it.
Back to the season, I'm very excited to be starting next week under the lights. Testing has gone pretty smooth but nothing really matters til the lights go out. We got to be ready to do it when the cameras are rollin!!!!
Keep following and thanks again for all of your support.
Peace, Nicky
Great New Nicky Shirt!
If you're coming to Indy then take your chance to pick up this exclusive new Nicky T-shirt. Nicky came up with the logo himself and it will match the new butt patch on his Alpinestars leathers this weekend.
The shirts are available in the Hayden Brothers general store run by Nicky's Mom. Click on the image to see a bigger picture.
Nicky's update10th April
Well I'm much happier to check in after the wk in Jerez than after Qatar. Tho the result on paper just looks like a 4th place, I think it was a pretty solid 4th and the whole wke went smooth and we were never out out of top 4 in any session. I think its something we can build on and hopefully use to build some momentum for the rest of the season.
With Dani winning it was a good day for Repsol Honda, So congrats to them and thanks cuz they brought me a new frame for the race that was a help so hope they keep bringing the goods. I think now we've got the frame working well just for me and my style need a bit more help on the str8 line and we should be able to be a contender! Also we had a test afterwards and again we were able to improve some more and did a lot of work with Michelin, so all was good. That's about all I got to report now tho this wke I get to go see Indy and the new track layout and help pump up this race and help get the East Coast ready for Moto GP. Take it easy and I'll check in soon.
Peace,
Nicky
Latest Nicky Update
That big break through we were looking for didn't come in France as we were hoping. I'm not gonna sugar coat and try to put a nice spin on it, about how we were so close to getting on the podium or anything. Simply put, I can't lie to my fans out there!. The truth is we got beat up pretty bad and only could come up with an 8th. I know we bagged some points but I hope we can do a lot better soon.
One of the cool things though is I just returned home from the indy 500 and, wow, what a place. I thought it was cool before, when I went on the Indian bike, but to see that place stacked full with 350,000 people, really took it to another level. I got to do my laps and it was pretty cool, more just to see how the people are really excited to see Moto gp do its thing there at the famous track in September. Some drivers and lots of crew people were asking lots of questions, so hope we can deliver a good show when we roll out in about 4 months time. Until then we got a few stops and starting with the first back to back races of the season starting in Italy!!! Stay tuned and let's I can do you proud!
Peace.
Nicky.
